The Blog

We launched JamieKGuitar.com last week. The purpose of the site is for Jamie to share news, his biography, list gear, highlight availability for recording and guitar lessons, and otherwise manage his online presence. The attached image serves to illustrate the design process. During our first meeting, Jamie and I sketched the layout for the home page. We looked at a sample of sites from his peers and decided to keep it as simple as possible. Jamie picked the retro logo font, and the color scheme was adapted to the featured photo. I also made some custom icons to keep things interesting. The wide screenshot depicts the final product (though it is hardly as crisp as the real thing.) The tall image depicts the site in mobile viewing - which is responsive for better access on small devices.

Financial Planning Services Inc, is a registered investment advisory firm based in Raleigh, NC. Its president, Holly Nicholson, is a Certified Financial Planner, money manager, and weekly columnist for the News & Observer. The newly designed and responsive askholly.com automatically adjusts so that it can be viewed clearly on any size device, including mobile phones. The challenge was to maintain a similar look and layout as the old site (so as not to throw off her regular clients), while making huge improvements to accessibility of all of the content, forms, and downloads hosted thereon. I think we have succeed.

Sites Commercial is a general contractor and commercial real estate developer. I'm wrapping up a site overhaul on sitescommercial.com Not too many bells & whistles, just a simple responsive design that adjusts for different screen sizes and devices. It is nearly done. There will be a few more past projects posted once we get all the pictures and details sorted, as well as a new project they've just begun. Two priorities for this one: Showcase services and projects to attract new clients; Display documents and site drawings for prospective clients and subcontractors. Up next: Marketing Materials.

Tunes Alive enables musicians to build a relationship with their fans in a way that helps them sustain a viable career. The key to this is building their presence online with commerce solutions and content (like interviews) that engages consumers. Charles Creative approaches small businesses in much the same way. In addition to our web services, look for new production projects featuring local businesses soon.
Ziggy Pockets is the real deal. A talented lyricist who is not shy about taking inspiration from his own life. Read more about him on: Tunes Alive.

Proud to announce that Charles Creative has officially joined the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce. Look out for me at any number of committee meetings, and if I can manage it, maybe even the occasional mixer. Really looking forward to connecting with all of the talented and motivated business owners in our area.

The "Tunes Alive in 60 seconds" pitch video, featuring voiceover by Jeff (your humble commentator). This is a part of Tunes Alive's outreach effort: "Tunes Alive is continuing to grow its community of artists, vendors, and supporters. The next step is to complete and expand upon its online platform to offer the unique and valuable services it has developed to the new generation of musicians and vendors."

UPDATE: Extended pitch now available.

"Maya and Sparky", the first adventure from Time Bean Co is now online. Time Bean Co is a story series targeted to elementary-aged children, with complex subject matter that deals with grief, loss, and other challenges. The stories are co-authored by a licensed marriage and family therapist. Timebean.co is built on a responsive Wordpress theme with some light modifications, with more advanced integrations planned for the future (no pun intended). This project also includes character and graphic design. Look for more on Time Bean soon.

We'll be building out the residential services section of jmjcommercial.com later this summer. They are a company with many years experience in both commercial and residential construction. They specialize in on-site project management of complex projects, often quite far from their home state of North Carolina. They are currently wrapping up a large warehouse expansion in West Chester, Ohio.
